Dubai Marathon 2020
The Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon is one of the most important sporting events in the Middle East and the world; categorized as a Gold Label Race by the International Association of Athletic Federations (IAAF) on the same level as the London, New York and Boston Marathons. The event has been growing in popularity since it was established in 2000 attracting elite athletes from around the world as well as amateur runners and enthusiastic spectators. The 21st edition that took place January 24th was the biggest ever with a 30% jump in Emirati participation compared to last year.
Brief
We were hired to construct the Marathon village providing an area for entertainment and refreshments for VIPs, Race participants and spectators. We were also responsible for the media tents and interior fit out, including lighting, electricity, décor and furnishings.
Solution
We installed multiple temporary structures including one 19m Dome and two 14m Domes for the Marathon village. Beyond ensuring enough indoor lighting and a comfortably cool interior, we ensured adequate noise protection from the cheering crowds for working areas. Signature pieces from our rental collection created comfortable seating and relaxation areas. Among the furniture selected: Le Corbu armchair and sofa, Kim leather stool, Industrial coffee table, Geometric cocktail table and stool.
